Wise Area Relief Mission (WARM) is a non-profit Christian organization that helps needy families. In 2010, we provided over 522,000 pounds of food to residents in 23 communities across Wise County. WARM also provides other services including help with utilities, medical prescriptions, and gas.
WARM began in 1998 when the food pantry at Central Church of Christ was merged into an outreach for area churches. Combining efforts with local civic organizations, large corporations, small businesses, and other churches, WARM is a joint civic ecumenical project and is thereby non-denominational. The underlying premise of WARM is that promoting self-sufficiency in turn promotes a sense of community cohesiveness.
In 2010, 341 volunteers spent 3,935 hours at the food pantry, valued at over $29,516 for their services. Some 295 community service workers also provided help, valued at almost $25,000.
Besides providing over 10,500 boxes of food for Wise County families, WARM provided $70,000 in utility assistance, $11,000 in prescription assistance, along with $25,000 provided by the Decatur Unit of the Salvation Army.
The needs continue to rise. Won't you join us in assisting those in crisis? Won't you please donate?
