Wise Area Relief Mission (W.A.R.M.) is a non-profit Christian organization that helps needy families. We currently provide food to approximately 1750 people per month in 23 communities across Wise County. Other services include utilities, medical care, gas and lodging.
W.A.R.M. began in 1998 when the food pantry at Central Church of Christ was merged into an outreach for area churches.
The mission of W.A.R.M. is compassion and assistance as a response to God's grace through Jesus Christ by offering services to those with need in Wise County in an effort to promote a productive, sharing community.
W.A.R.M. is a relief center that arose from a need identified by churches in the Wise County area. Combining efforts with local civic organizations, W.A.R.M. is a joint civic ecumenical project and is thereby non-denominational. Just as God's grace is His gift of love to us without regard for merit or worth, W.A.R.M. strives to offer compassion and aid to those families who, for no single reason, are suffering from financial or other setbacks. Persons with needs are served regardless of race, sex, age, social and economic status, national origin, or religious background, to the end that all persons served can be helped to achieve their fullest potential as children of God. The underlying premise of W.A.R.M. is that promoting self-sufficiency in turn promotes a sense of community cohesiveness.
